Meet Devan, LMFT, CGT

“Therapy offers a moment of grace where what you bring to the session is met with compassion, understanding, and empathy.”

My passion has always been working with wounded hearts, helping those in broken and what seem like hopeless situations find light and meaning for their lives. I have spent the last few years working with women and men who have backgrounds of complex trauma and relationship issues and have cherished walking alongside of them to help provide tools for the life they want to create. I take a grace-filled, non-judgmental, collaborative approach to therapy and believe that every person, no matter their situation, can find healing and hope in the midst of their circumstances. My goal is to create a safe space where clients can be vulnerable while feeling supported and empowered to access their inner strengths in order to start thriving in their lives. I believe that therapy offers a moment of grace where what you bring to the session is met with compassion, understanding, and empathy.

I use a client-centered, trauma-informed approach to view client concerns and believe that life traumas (big and small) greatly influence our choices and relationships, making us feel stuck in unhealthy patterns. Once these patterns are identified, I believe immense healing can take place as self-awareness grows and our level of reactivity lowers. I use an integration of talk therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization) to help clients overcome these debilitating patterns in their lives while highlighting individual strengths to foster lasting change. My heart is to help individuals, couples, and adolescents reach their goals and find new meaning in their experiences. I offer and specialize in Christian counseling for clients who are looking for a faith-based approach.

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #T2303 and Certified Gottman Therapist, I graduated from Liberty University with my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and received my Bachelors in Psychology from University of California, Berkeley. My previous work at Mosaic Medical and Shepherd’s House Ministries Women and Children’s Center has allowed me to gain extensive experience working with adolescents, women and men. I have worked with a wide variety of concerns and have a special heart for working with couples and believe that every marriage can be strengthened and thrive. My professional training includes Gottman Method Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, Treating Affairs and Trauma in Marriage, Gottman Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Leader, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Professionally, I have led a number of suicide prevention trainings in the community and have extensive knowledge in working with individuals struggling with thoughts of suicide, previous suicide attempts, or self-harm.
